Orange Partners With NetVibes On Mobile Widgets

Orange and Netvibes  announced March 4 a partnership to bring a collection of mobile widgets to all types of mobile phone user across an extensive range of handsets. Netvibes' catalogue of nearly 200,000 real-time widgets will be available on Orange widgets, a service featuring on 80% of handsets shipped by Orange. It will also be available on djinngo mobile, an Orange service open to any mobile phone user in the world. Mobile widgets will also shortly be available to Orange customers in the recently launched Orange Application Shop.

 Mobile payment provider BOKU,  announced January 19 that it has raised $25 million in series C capital led by DAG Ventures,  with continued participation from Benchmark Capital, Index Ventures and Khosla Ventures.Read more

Atlas Venture Consolidates in Boston, Fred Destin, the Firm's High-Profile Partner and Blogger, to Leave Europe

Atlas Venture announced January 19 that during 2010 the firm will bring all operations together at a new office in the Boston area and that partner Fred Destin is relocating from Europe to Boston.  Read more

European Internet Shoe Retailer Spartoo.com Secures 12 million Euros in Follow-on Funding

 Spartoo.com, a European site that sells  footwear over the Internet, announced Jan. 13 that it has  closed on a €12 million Series B round of financing to accelerate growth. 

This funding round was led by Highland Capital Partners and Endeavour Vision.  They were joined by existing investors A Plus Finance and CM-CIC Capital Privé. Read more

Israeli Mobile TV Chip Company Raises $24 million in Series D Round

 Siano Mobile Silicon, a supplier of mobile digital TV receiver chips, has raised $23.5 million in a fourth round of funding.

The round consists exclusively of all of Siano's existing investors: JVP, DFJ-Tamir-Fishman, Star Ventures, Walden Israel, and Bessemer Venture Partners.Read more

CCS Insight Report Predicts Explosive European Growth For Mobile Broadband

 A  report released January 13 by global mobile consultancy CCS Insight predicts the European mobile broadband market will see subscriber and revenue numbers nearly double by 2011. The report said total mobile broadband subscribers are expected to rise from about €22 million at the end of 2009 to over €43 million in 2011 and total revenue from mobile broadband access in major European markets to increase to more than €11 billion by 2011, up from €6 billion in 2009.Read more

Finland's Nexit Ventures Invests In User Interface Technology Developer Rightware

 Nexit Ventures, a mobile venture capital firm focused on wireless technologies and services, announced January 7 that it is  investing in Rightware, a developer of advanced user interface technologies and solutions for mobile phone and embedded applications.

Nexit is the co-lead investor in the €3 million round with Inventure, a Helsinki-based early stage investor with a Nordic focus. Rightware is a spin-off from Futuremark, a leading developer of 3D graphics benchmarking software, UI solutions, and graphics intensive online games.

  DailyMotion, the French video sharing sites which attracts 60 million unique monthly visitors and one billion video views worldwide, announced October 22 that it has raised $25 million (€17 million) in a round led by the French Sovereign Fund and original investors Advent Venture Partners, AGF Private Equity, Atlas Venture and Partech International.Read more
