France's Silicon Sentier Reaches Out to Tel Aviv's Techies

Israeli tech companies have long looked to the U.S. for inspiration, funding and expansion, but the March 18 opening of HaCantina, a Tel Aviv branch of Paris entrepreneurial hub "La Cantine",  could signal the start of a new era. French open source vendor raises $12 million

 French open source data integration vendor Talend announced on January 26 the closure of $12 million of Series C funding from investors AGF Private Equity and Balderton Capital. The amount raised is significant enough but is all the more remarkable given the current economic climate and tightening restrictions within the credit market. For Talend, the new investment together with the company's impressive 2008 growth record provide strong indicators that data integration is an area ripe for OS development and investment, according to technology consultancy Ovum.
