French Company Building Artificial Human Heart Plans IPO

France's Carmat, a company that is building an entirely artificial human heart, is planning an initial public offering on the Alternext market of NYSE-Euronext Paris in June. The company, co-founded by renowned French heart surgeon Alain Carpentier, is leveraging the aerospace industry's expertise in modeling, stress testing, miniaturization and design for severe environments as well as the latest advances in software, medicine, biology and materials science. France's BioAlliance Pharma Raises New Funding

 BioAlliance Pharma SA, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused treatment of  infections in cancer and AIDS patients,  announced March 16 the award of €6.4 million in funding from OSEO (the French state innovation agency). The company will devote the funds to the development of its novel therapies for the treatment of invasive cancers.
