Mobile World Congress News: ST Microelectronics Teams Up With Israeli Company To Turn Mobile Phones Into Pico Projectors

Semiconductor manufactuer and MEMs sensor maker STMicroelectronics and Israeli's bTendo Ltd. announced at the Mobile World Congress February 14-17 that they have signed a development and license agreement to jointly develop the world’s smallest pico projector for smart phones and other portable consumer-electronics devices. The pico projector is based on bTendo’s Scanning Laser Projection engine technology and ST’s MEMS (Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems) expertise, video processing know-how and semiconductor process technology.

ST-Ericsson wins China Mobile contract to build out TD-SCDMA

China Mobile announced May 26 that it has selected ST-Ericsson's company in China, T3G, as a major technology partner for the development of its high-end and low-cost handsets, based on the 3G standard TD-SCDMA. ST-Ericsson will also support four of its customers to commercialize their mobile phones during 2009-2010.
